Several years ago, I came across an author named Laurel Airica. Her work is a poetic and poignant look at words and how they impact our world. WordMagic, as she calls it, has greatly inspired my own writing, thinking, and selection of words in all facets of my vocabulary.

When I reached out and sent her a sample of my book, Journey of Colors, I was thrilled to hear her reply:

Dear Mackenzie,
Your coloring book and cards are beautiful. The Love-Energy within them is very palpable. Your artistry is truly beautiful! And the love you put into your coloring book — and into empowering those who will use it both for meditative purposes and to build greater skill and confidence as an artist — is visually evident and physically palpable. What a gift you have and give!
Thank You for sending them to me. I will forward them to my grandchildren.
With Love & Blessings,
~ Laurel

Want to pair WordMagic with coloring?

A great activity that I’ve been doing is to use the Mindful Coloring process (click to download free eBook), starting with a few minutes of coloring to draw yourself into the present and to still your mind. Followed by free-form writing in my Coloring Journal.

As you color, focus your mind on a thought, an affirmation, a feeling.

Then, fill a single page with words that are carefully crafted. Whether a poem or a story or anything in between, this is a way to start cultivating words that are the things you want to think and bring into reality.

Sending good vibes your way, and happy coloring!
