With winter in full bloom, the storms and the clouds whip through the woods, trees dance and birds chirp. When the colors are all muted, the sky a solid blanket of grey, here is a recipe I hope will brighten your day.

Ingredients: Violet + Yellow.

These two colors are opposites on the color wheel, meaning they’re a complementary pair whose light and dark, warm and cool combination is sure to bring feelings of being uplifted yet relaxed.

Three Ways to Enjoy:

1. Color (or paint, or draw) with only Yellows and Purples (download a freebie and start coloring today)

2. Wear the Hues, for example find a yellow shirt and a purple scarf. Even if they’re unseen, they’ll be with you all day. Any clothing item will do!

3. Play with Color Accessories, from Color Shades to Color Lights, turn off the tech and allow the colors to subtly influence your mood.

Bonus: Make a cup of tea (violet) and enjoy it with a favorite treat (yellow) for an any-time pick-me up if you’re feeling slightly mellow or just want to feel even better.

Variation: Add a splash of Green for a cool-boosted feeling of abundant energy.
