Tilikum Crossing & The Winter Light Festival
Portland Winter Light Festival 2018
The day was beautiful, warm even, especially for an evening in February. And this showed with the crowds in attendance. The Portland Winter Light Festival is a free city-wide event, with light displays, performances, and more at various locations along the Willamette River.
With camera in hand, I was on the lookout for beautiful things to capture. And by far the best was simply the beauty of Portland’s bridges at night, especially Tilikum Crossing.
While there were less lights than I expected, it was incredibly fun to participate in this Portland community event. I loved hearing the laughter and enjoyment of people as people saw the fire displays and came across a new light display.

Camera Notes
Camera: Pentax K-3 with 18-135mm Lens
Settings: Because I was shooting freehand (no tripod), I had to keep the ISO relatively high in order to capture the photos. F/stop was as low as the lens allowed, at around 3.5-5, shutter speed around 1/10, and ISO around 800-3200.
Location: Portland Waterfront Path, East Side, near OMSI.
