Feelings of Fall at Laurelhurst Park

Exploring Parks in Portland as the Leaves Begin to Change

The crisp air cools your breath even as the sunshine warms your cheeks. It is a delightful combination. This fall, I took my camera (and my pup) out for a few photo adventures to catch a glimpse of the beautiful fall foliage. Here are a few of my favorite snapshots I captured of fall in Portland.

Laurelhurst Park was glistening in the afternoon light, as my pup and I strolled through the winding trails. People dozed in the sunshine, ran with their dogs, and pushed kids in strollers. Overall, a feeling of happiness at the sunshine, knowing full well that the dreary days of winter in the PNW might descend upon us soon.
Living right near Mt. Tabor park, there are so many beautiful neighborhoods to wander through. On a particularly sunny day, I grabbed my camera and pup and headed for a walk to see the changing leaves. The colors were varied from rich red to orange to yellow to still green. Some places were littered with fallen leaves and others the light still glowed through trees filled with foliage.

Ozy got to practice his patience while I made him sit for photos.

On the last day of October, the sun was out and a friend and I headed to St. John’s Bridge. I had never walked across the bridge, and it was quite the experience. All of the mountain views were out, and through the haze you could see downtown in the distance. After our trek across the bridge we headed down to Cathedral Park, for stunning views of the bridge itself. If you’re ever looking for a fun little adventure, I highly recommend it.

To wrap up my fall photo adventures, I had to include “my park” too: Mt. Tabor. I headed up to the upper reservoir, the best place to see the city, and as usual, the views did not disappoint. Whenever I am needing a little pick-me-up, walking up the hill to get this view always reminds me how fortunate I am to live in such a beautiful place.

Hope you’ve been enjoying fall and are all ready for winter!

I wasn’t the only one out enjoying the sunshine.
